Parish Boundary Review (AKA Community Governance Review) – A Reminder
Residents are reminded that the consultation on the revised Parish Boundary is still ongoing. The consultation takes the form of three questions/proposals. These three questions are shown on our website along with a form you and print and email or post back to Solihull MBC (http://hamptoninarden.org.uk/parish-boundary-review-aka-community-governance-review-next-steps/). Solihull MBC and the Parish Council are keen for the outcome of this Review to encompass the broadly held views of the residents of the affected areas. Solihull MBC would like to hear your views. The consultation period ends on 15th April 2018. Please ensure you let Solihull MBC have your responses by then.
Recreation Ground Car Park Flooding
Many residents will be aware that, following the recent snow and heavy rain in March, the car park has again flooded. The Parish Council has been actively investigating the cause of the blockage in the drainage system for some time and has received some assistance from Solihull MBC, our local grounds maintenance contractor and most recently Severn Trent Water. Interestingly, it has been discovered that the car park drainage is connected to a substantial brick culvert running under the car park and thought to have been built in the early 1830`s. It is possible that the culvert was built to drain surface water from parts of the village or as part of the construction of the railway to divert a water course away from the cutting running alongside the recreation ground. The culvert, which discharges into Shadow Brook is very obviously blocked or has collapsed in places. We are currently working with Solihull MBC and Severn Trent Water to establish ownership and responsibility for maintenance to allow us to avoid any future flooding. We will provide more information to residents as it becomes available.
Proposal for Affordable Housing on Old Station Road: Solihull MBC has deferred the decision on this planning application. It will be reconsidered at a future date. We will inform you of the outcome when we have it.
New Housing Plan for Village Centre: Many residents will be aware that there is a proposal for a number of new homes on the old cricket pitch between Lapwing Drive and The Cresent. A Consultation Event has been held on this potential scheme. However, at the time of writing (mid-March 2018) there has been no formal planning application made to Solihull MBC. The Parish Council will provide more information on this proposal as and when if becomes available.
We can confirm that the Village Festival will be held between Friday 29th June and 1st July. Make sure to pop the dates in your diary! Keep checking out the Festival website for more information – https://hamptoninardenfestival.weebly.com/
