Pedestrian Safety and Traffic Calming Plan

We are pleased to announce that our application for the pedestrian safety and traffic calming plan has now been submitted to the HS2 Community Fund on our behalf by Solihull MBC.  We will keep you posted on the results via our website and Facebook – in the meantime we keep our fingers crossed for a positive outcome!

The preparatory work for the HS2 continues to proceed in the area (although little of it has directly affected the Parish so far).  For more information about the HS2 scheme and the ongoing works please visit the HS2 website:

Hampton-in-Arden Preschool – Clothing Bank

A new clothing bank has arrived in the village, situated at the entrance to the Recreation Ground car park on Shadowbrook Lane!  The aim is to create regular income for the village preschool as well as supporting the Starlight Children’s Foundation.  Please donate clothes, shoes, handbags and linens for recycling. Shoes, boots and gloves must be in pairs.  All items must be clean and in a good state of repair. No toys, books, electrical items or bric-a-brac please

For every £500 raised, preschool will earn £400 and £100 will be donated to the Starlight Children’s Foundation.

Police Surgery Dates

The dates for the three next Police Surgeries are as follows:

  • 18th July;
  • 14th August; and
  • 10th September.

The Surgeries will be held at Sandwiches at No. 6 (on the High Street opposite the Church) between 11.30am and 12.30pm.  Pop along and chat with members of our Neighbourhood Police Team about any concerns/issues you may have. Oak Farm, Catherine-de-Barnes

The planning application by Richmond Villages for a substantial continuing care retirement community that was refused in October 2018 has now been appealed.  The public Inquiry will start on 10th August 2019.  In the meantime, the applicant has submitted a slightly revised, new application.  We will keep you informed on the progress of this application via our website and our Facebook page.

M42 Improvements – Junction 6

The Government has declared this project as a major national infrastructure project.  As such the normal planning rules do not apply and the application for approval goes to the Planning Inspectorate (rather than Solihull MBC).  The preliminary Development Consent Order hearings have begun and are likely to last for about 6 months.

Motorway Service Area at Catherine-de-Barnes

The Planning Committee meeting to be held on the 19th June was cancelled yet again.  At the time of writing we do not know the re-arranged date for this meeting.  As soon as we know more we will let you know via our website and our Facebook page.
