Local Elections 2019!
Local elections took place on 2nd May when there was, once again, no election for Parish Councillors as there were insufficient candidates nominated by the closing date of 4th April to trigger an election. This meant that those nominated were declared duly elected without a contest. The widely reported parish boundary change came into effect on 1st April and we now have two wards for the Parish namely Hampton-in-Arden Ward with eight councillors and Catherine-de-Barnes Ward with four councillors. The make-up of the new Parish Council is as follows:
Hampton-in-Arden Ward: *Tim Beresford *Ken Blanch *Mike Blomer *Alexander Clayson *Peter Green *Michael Hulme *David Sandells *Cat Sellars.
Catherine-de-Barnes Ward: *John Eccleston *Giles Cook *Dave Cuthbert *Anyone living or working in the Catherine-de-Barnes Ward who may be interested in being co-opted to fill the remaining ward vacancy should contact the Parish Clerk, Julie Barnes.
Annual Parish Council Meeting
Our Annual Meeting took place in Fentham Hall on 16th April when 38 residents attended to hear about the work of the parish council for the year to 31st March 2019. Reports were presented on a wide range of matters including planning applications, the maintenance of Parish owned land and other assets, the Pedestrian Safety and Traffic Calming Plan, HS2. Community Street Watch and Community Speed Watch. Those present also received a detailed report on the finances of the Council for the last financial year. A copy of the Annual Report is available from Julie Barnes and is also on the Parish Council website.
Have you spotted that the wall by the War Memorial has been reconstructed? It was repaired in April by the company that caused the damage and doesn’t it look great?!
Village Tidy Up – Save The Date
The date of this year’s Village Tidy will be Saturday 23rd of June between 9.30am and 11.30am. This is the weekend before the Village Festival to make sure the village is looking its best for the festivities. We need volunteers to help spruce up the village and so the more the merrier – please come along and show your support. Meet at the George Fentham Meeting Room to register and collect equipment. Refreshments will be provided to all the hard workers at the end. We look forward to seeing you all!
Pedestrian Safety and Traffic Calming – An Update
The Parish Council has been meeting regularly with Solihull MBC Officers and Ward Councillors to finalise the Village Pedestrian Safety and Traffic Calming Plan. Both are assisting with the application for funding to the HS2 Community Fund and a decision is expected later in the year.
