Grab & Go at Solihull Libraries
A number of Solihull’s larger libraries are open to the public for a Grab & Go service where you can browse the library for a limited time and borrow books. Computers are available for 45 minute slots by booking ahead, and you can join the library if you don’t have a library card. The libraries that are open are:

Click & Collect at Meriden & Shirley
Through our free Click & Collect service, you can request a set of books to collect at Meriden Library or Shirley Library.
You can find the form online at https://www.solihull.gov.uk/Resident/Libraries/Click-and-Collect or if you are unable to use the online form you can phone 0121 704 8001.
Simply complete the form with your preferences and you will be notified when your items are available for pick up. We will select up to 10 books for each card holder. All you need to do is tell us what you like to read by completing the form and telling us your preferences. Library staff will choose your books and will contact you when your order is ready to collect.
Home Library Service
If you are unable to leave your home or:
- cannot travel to your local library
- cannot carry items to and from the library
- care for someone who is unable to leave their home
then the Home Library Service might be just what you are looking for.
The service is free of charge and offers a wide range of:

eBooks, eAudiobooks, eMagazines, and eNewspapers
If you have a library card, or by joining online at www.solihull.gov.uk/libraries, you can access our ever-expanding digital library shelves! We have eBooks, eAudiobooks, and a wide variety of magazines available through the RBDigital service. We also have newspapers and magazines from the UK and around the world available through PressReader. On top of all the new eBooks and eAudiobooks we’ve added this year, our latest exciting addition is a brand new collection of over 1,000 eAudiobooks from Borrowbox.
All of these services are available through your web browser or via apps on Android, iOS, and more.
Ancestry at Home
For the period of the coronavirus outbreak, the Ancestry family history research site is available for home use with your library card and PIN. Normally this can only be used in the library, so if you’re interested in discovering your family history it’s a great time to start.
