Welcome to Our New Parish Clerk

Our new Parish Clerk, Julie Barnes, started work with us at the end of January.  Julie is a mum of two young children and lives near Solihull.  She has been very enthusiastic at getting to grips with her new role and is already doing a great job.

Julie will be in the Parish Office each week on a Monday and Thursday morning between 9am and 11am.  Please do feel free to pop in and say hello!

Gypsy and Traveller Site in Shadowbrook Lane

The long running appeal by the residents of this unauthorised site (against the enforcement notice served by Solihull MBC for the site to be cleared) was eventually heard in full over four days commencing 29th November 2016.  The decision was published on 2nd February 2017 and it can be confirmed that the appeal has been allowed on legal grounds.  The Planning Inspector granting full planning permission for use of the site as a gypsy and traveller site subject to conditions (including restricting the number of caravans both static and mobile and prohibiting any commercial activity).

Full details of the decision can be read on line at https://acp.planninginspectorate.gov.uk/ViewCase.aspx?Caseid=2209777&CoID=0

Solihull Local Plan Review

The consultation period on the revised Solihull Local Plan has now ended.  The Parish Council and Hampton-in-Arden Society sent a joint response to Solihull MBC with specific comments about housing sites, transport and accessibility, environment, quality of place and health and supporting local communities.  Detailed comments were particularly provided on the poor public transport service in the village and on the proposals for housing development on land at Arden Wood Shavings/Lapwing Drive.  We hope that our comments will be taken into consideration within the review of the proposed Local Plan.

M42 Junction 6 Improvements

The Parish Council responded to the public consultation completed by Highways England which produced three ‘preferred options’ for the improvement of Junction 6 of the M42.  The Council stated that Option 1 was the ‘least worst’ of the three options provided.  However, it was made clear that the Council has reservations about all the selected options.
