The West Midlands Combined Authority (WMCA) are seeking your views on the proposed transfer of the powers and responsibilities of the Police and Crime Commissioner to the Mayor of the West Midlands in May 2020.

Currently, separate elections for a Police and Crime Commissioner and a Mayor of the West Midlands take place every four years. The next election date is May 2020.

This is Stage two of the consultation which focuses on how accountability and decision making could work. It is asking for your views on the role of the Deputy Mayor Policing and Crime and eligibility for the position; the most effective ways to scrutinise the work of the Police to ensure accountability; and how to ensure a seamless transition of responsibilities if the decision is taken to transfer the powers to the Mayor.

There is a short questionnaire and further information on the WMCA website and they would welcome your feedback and any additional comments that you would like to make.

Please do take the time to #HaveYourSay by visiting the website at

The consultation ends on 11 March 2019.
